Dear parents,
While there is no legal requirement to ask you for permission before taking photographs of your child, it is best practice to discuss how photographs of children might be used in the setting. This ensures you are happy with the arrangements for photos before your child’s care starts.
We are registered with the Information Commissioners Office so we can take, store and use electronic data about children. We might take photos using a digital camera, mobile phone, tablet or similar device.
We will use photographs of children in the following ways –
· To display around the house or in albums, which gives your child a sense of belonging.
· To share with you – sometimes online and other times as a printed photo.
· To record your child’s daily routine and share with you or them.
· To support your child’s learning and development.
· To attach to the Emergency Permission Form to aid identification of your child by emergency services if we are unable to speak for your child after an accident, incident or in an emergency.
· To share with Ofsted to show the range of activities we do with children in our early years setting.
Please note that all photographs remain your property; photographs will not be used on the internet without advance written permission from you; any photographs not returned to you when your child leaves (that may be in albums, photo frames or part of displays) will be destroyed.
Group photos: sometimes, there might be more than one child on a photograph. This might happen when, for example, children request we take group scenes or when photographs are taken during group activities. Please let us know if you are unhappy for your child to appear in group photographs and their face or any identifying features will be removed from photos in which they accidentally appear.
If you have any concerns about how we take and use photographs, please let us know. Thank you.
